Okay, so want to have an idea of what scratched up CD is playing on my ancient CD player right now. I will tell you that I am starting to get really fed up with CDs period. It seems like if you actually touch the CD it gets scratched. Now I am really anal about having all my CDs in alphabetical order in one of those case logic thingys and with the design on them straigth up and down. Yet somehow they all get scratched. So I decided I am going back to tapes. I will still keep my CD player. But I am going to be more likely to get my friends to make tapes of CDs I like so my pocketbook isn't hurt as much and I know that I won't have to listen to that annoying clicking noise when it starts skipping. You may think that now I will have to deal with unwinding tapes. If you will recall though, tapes really don't unwind that often, and if it does they are fairly cheap to replace with a blank tape. And if you know how to remove small scratches on CDs PLEASE email me.

Now that I have that ranting over I can get down to business. First of all I am going to recommend sick puppy's sick sounds. They are developing a plethora of good real audio files for listening to right there and have quite a selection of mp3s that aren't the same damn top 10 Mtv hits you will find on every mp3 site out there. Because of limited web space, you have to email Mitenstein and request the song which will be uploaded for 72 hours so you can then directly download it from an URL you will be given.

If you have no idea what I like to listen to then here is a list of my 10 favourite bands/groups whatever you want to call them.

  1. Skinny Puppy
  2. Switchblade Symphony
  3. Rasputina
  4. KMFDM
  5. the Cure
  6. Tool
  7. Sister Machine Gun
  8. Bauhaus
  9. Pink Floyd
  10. Nine Inch Nails

I'd also like to recommend Madonna's new album, Ray of Light and Rx, a new side project (I guess) between Ogre of Skinny Puppy and Atkins of Pig. Both are CD/tapes worth buying. And locally I'd like to commend Brian Tutunick, the ORIGINAL bassist for Marilyn Manson, who quit the band before they were even signed and formed Nation of Fear. NOF puts on a great show and all the band members are really great guys and don't use stupid phony names like Marilyn Manson, and don't think they are taking over the world. I also have to mention Soul Slave/Switchmode if you like the Deftones/Korn hardcore stuff since my ex-boyfriend (only ex because he went away to college) was the bassist. One last local note for hardcore fans, forget Limp Bizkit (they suck live anyways) and check out the Groovenics, also one of my favourite bands but not in the top 10.
